The area just north of 37th Street at the base of Lookout Mountain is referred to as the Southern Gateway. The historic railroad overpasses, the mountain backdrop, a landmark restaurant, shopping, and connections to nearby neighborhoods give a rich history and character to this southern entry to the South Broad area. Businesses within this Southern Gateway must consider interior block shared parking with significant landscaping to create the walkable, pedestrian atmosphere needed to enhance commerce. New residential units, whether apartments or condominiums, across the street on St. Elmo Avenue will also add to the vitality and desirability of this district. |
